Pups Take the 'Big Easy'

November 5, 2017

Sorry for the lack of blogging lately! It has been a crazy week. Yesterday was a three show day in New Orleans; that means a hectic day of getting back in the swing of things after a sort of mini-vacation.

On Tuesday, my girlfriend, Kendall, flew to New Orleans so that we could turn this stop on the tour into a little vacation! Since it was Halloween, we (Kendall, myself, and the rest of the cast) got dressed up for a night of exploring in the city. We had a ton of fun. Kendall and I were Sully and Boo from Monsters Inc!

During the rest of our time in NOLA, we got to check out a lot of really cool places. One of my favorites was Frenchmen Street, where we were casually greeted by a big band performing in the street. They were amazing! We also stopped in to one of the Jazz clubs where tap dancers were performing killer solos to the live music.

We also spent some time at Jazz in the Park in the Louis Armstrong Park. There was live music, food trucks, and lots of dancing. The vibe in New Orleans is so vibrant! The houses in the Garden District and around the French Quarter are all painted bright colors and have a very European feel. The art is unbelievable too; I ended up chatting with an artist named Trey Bryan who does some really fantastic work. I bought a few original postcards from him. Check out his work on instagram @treybryan and tell him I sent you!

We definitely made sure to take in all the classic New Orleans sights, sounds, and eats! Along with all our musical activities, we also went to City Park to see the sculpture garden and beautiful scenery, woke up early on Friday to watch the sunrise over the Mississippi River, and we of course had to stop at Cafe Du Monde for some beignets. Oh...and Kendall got me to try some alligator! (It really does taste like chicken)

It was a whirlwind of a week and although it was only a few days, I had a blast. Below are some pictures from my "vacation," so make sure to give those a look! Today we finish up in New Orleans, but we're sticking around in Louisiana for awhile-- Lafayette is next!
